The 80's....

I was a kid in the 80's and damn!! Am proud of it!!! There are times that i cherish, thinking of the simple life, the simpler lifestyle, Doordarshan, comics, Gilette world of sports (a program i used to wait for an entire week just to know how alain prost, aryton senna, eddie lawson, , wayne rainey, mick doohan and so on fared!!), the psychedelic ad's, Ramayan, Mahabharath, Oliyum oliyum (the tamil version of superhit muqabla, only much older!!), and much much more that kids today will sorely miss!!

People are more stuck up on the net, cell phones, weekend discos, rave parties and so on!! I still love a quiet sunday walk on the beach, a peaceful sunday evening movie, visiting friends on the weekend... sigh!!! Last weekend was diwali, went to my in-laws place for a visit and happened to chance upon an old copy of Tinkle, a comic i used to cherish as a kid!! I still do, but it's mostly between bike/car mags and SAP manuals!!! I chanced upon some really old advertisements!! Gold spot, Nutrine, Poppins, spider man, maggi, rasna.... damn!! Was all nostalgic!! Reminded me of my dad, our good times, the weekend beach visits, the ad club parties every month!! Anyways, here are a few ad's I managed to source from the net. Do let me know if this reminds you of further stuff!! Most of this is from another 80's geek like me called Vishal Patel. He has this fantastic site about 80's stuff which i adore!! Do drop him a visit.

Yummy!!!!

I miss Gold spot man!! Really do!!

GRRRRRRRR!!! There was not a single day that i did'nt curse this fella!!

well, yeah.. you forgot chitrahaar and junoon and all that jazz.. probably that was towards the early 90's.. but yes, ads like what you've posted sure takes you back memory lane..

Nowadays its all about wannabe kids who flash cash with their gizmos.. but i guess that makes an evolving generation and a rotating earth..

There used to be these 'old' superman/spider/****man comics in old libraries like raviraj. In those comics you would something about collecting points to win cool gifts like a skateboard ... RC plane ... joy buzzer and what not. Was fodder for endless fantasies about life in US ....

Awesome! Thanks a ton for transporting me back.

I still remember drinking Gold Spot for Rs2.50p a bottle. Sigh. Those were the days.
